Freud Out Loud:
Psychoanalysts Making a Cultural Intervention
In response to the rampant aggression in contemporary society, this past winter a group of psychoanalysts decided to conduct a cultural intervention: a marathon performative reading of Freud's Civilization and Its Discontents.
Freud Out Loud was the first in a series of public readings of classic texts of historically sanctioned sages organized by psychoanalysts Tracy Morgan and William Braun in an effort to improve the world through exposure to and engagement in rigorous analysis. Their first foray attracted over 700 attendees to Judson Memorial Church on a snowy Saturday in January of 2015.
